Full Description

<1> The GeoInformation Group, 2005, 1940s RAF Aerial Photographs from Operation Review, CPE UK 1935, 17/01/1947 (Aerial Photograph). SCH4608.

A north-east to south-west aligned earthwork. The earthwork comprises what appears to be a narrow bank. It appears to be cut the ridge and furrow earthworks in this area. Curiously this earthwork runs parallel to the much earlier bank (see CHER 11390/2) which is located c.20m to the south-east.

<2> Environment Agency, 2003-2020, Environment Agency LiDAR Surveys, DTM 1m 2008, SJ46NW DTM_F0109248, 06/12/2008 (Digital Archive). SCH7819.

A north-east to south-west aligned earthwork. The earthwork comprises what appears to be a narrow ditch c.2-3m wide. The bank is visible for c.140m. It appears to be cut both the ridge and furrow earthworks in this area (CHER 11211/1) and the eastern ditch flanking the possible headland and field boundary (CHER 11390/1).

<3> Various, Various, Oral communication to the HER, Edwards R, 19/11/2019 (Oral Communication). SCH2330.

There is no evidence for the continuation of this earthwork to the north-east or south-west. Furthermore, this feature shows no continuity with either the enclosed field system depicted on the tithe map (see 4) or the earlier medieval field-system preserved in the ridge and furrow (see CHER 11211/1). Although this feature runs parallel to the similarly aligned bank (CHER 11390/2), it is clear from their relationship with the ridge and furrow that they are chronologically unrelated.
