The map and award records this area as a stone quarry owned and occupied by Thomas Brandreth.

This map depicts the quarry which is accessed off the end of Sandy Lane. Quarry faces are depicted on the south-western, south-eastern and north-eastern sides. Two buildings are depicted on the quarry floor.

This map depicts the quarry which is now accessed via a tunnel off a lane connecting the end of Sandy Lane with Robin Hood Lane. A tramway follows this route from the quarry for c.650 metres to the north-west, to a site adjacent to the railway (L&NW & GWJR Birkenhead Line). The quarry has expanded to the south-east. Two cranes and one building are depicted within the quarry.
