Monument record 14919 - The Breck Quarries

The 1850 tithe map for the township of Adlington depicts the quarry as plot 1150 which is named ‘the Breck Quarries and Waste’ and described as ‘Industrial and Waste ground’. Two buildings and a trackway are depicted within the quarry area. Hachures suggest that the quarry face is on the eastern side of the site.

Only one building is depicted in the quarry. The quarry seems no larger in area than that depicted on the tithe map (see 2). The quarry face appears to be on the north-eastern side. Labelled 'Breck Quarry'.

The quarry operated from the early nineteenth century till the 1930s. Photograph shows the working face and a possible winding wheel and drum.
