Full Description

House, circa 1800. Roughcast render over brick with stone-flagged roof. Two storeys, five-window range. Possibly built in two phases with limit of original building marked by position of two axial stacks. Single-window range to left possibly a later addition. Doorway to left of centre in main range to right, in lattice-work porch; door with eight fielded octagonal panels. Windows throughout are twelve-pane sashes, with shallow segmentally-arched heads to ground floor. Lower two-storeyed two-window range wing adjoins to the left, possibly once in separate occupation. Axial and end wall stacks.

Description of property for sale including photographs and floor plan. The detatched cottage is described as dating from the Elizabethan period. Foden Bank Cottage was part of the Foden Bank Estate.

This map depicts the house and the attached smaller building to the north. It is recorded as being owned by The Trustees of the late Hannah Newbold and occupied by Charles Tummer. The plot is described as house and garden. To the east aligned at almost ninety degrees to Foden Bank Cottage, is a further building. This building lies within a plot known as stable croft, possibly indicating its function. This plot is also owned and occupied by The Trustees of the late Hannah Newbold and Charles Tummer, suggesting a relationship with the house.
