A heritage assessment was undertaken in 2017 for a group of buildings, including The Old Bakery, prior to proposed conversion and re-modelling. The Old Bakery is an undesignated building, of mid to late nineteenth century date. The Malpas Tithe Map of circa 1840 depicts a building on the site of the Old Bakery occupying a similar footprint, so it appears that the nineteenth century building is a re-build of an earlier structure. It is a narrow, two storey building, placed end-on to Old Hall Street, with outbuildings to the rear. It has a white-painted gable fronting onto Old Hall Street with a distinctive, round-headed, tall, first floor window of eight panes, above the ground floor doorway and window. The gable has kneelers. The elevation to the adjacent yard has a basket-arched doorway and a large window. Left of the door is a single-storey, overgrown outrigger and beyond that a range of derelict outbuildings.
