A watching brief monitoring groundworks at Pierpoint Lane, Chester, in 2018, recorded a brick-walled, subterranean structure, probably a basement. This structure can be related to a long building stretching back from the Bridge Street frontage and depicted on Ordnance Survey mapping dating to the late nineteenth century.
