Please read our .

Summary

First Edition Ordnance Survey mapping (1872-82) depicts a brick field with associated structures immediately to the west. There are two structures, one circular, possibly a kiln, and one rectangular. Neither the brick field or the circular structure are depicted on the Ordnance Survey Second Edition map of 1896-8. The building, which is still extant, was observed in advance of the development of Carden Park golf course in 1992, it is described as a rectangular, brick structure, 2m by 4m. It has an opening on the south side which appears original, which is surmounted by a large, re-used timber beam. At either end of the building there appear to have been narrow openings from ground level. It is roofed with slate and corrugated iron. Brick wasters were discovered on site and it is thought that the building could have been a moulding shed for bricks.
