Monument record 14300 - Site of Post Medieval Homestead South of Carden Hotel

The Tithe Map for Carden township, circa 1839 (see 2), depicts two buildings within a plot to the south of Cardenhall Farm, now Carden Hotel. The tithe apportionment records the following details: plot 161, Cottage and Garden, owned by John Hurleston Leche and occupied by Thomas Ravenscroft. The most northerly of the buildings is still present on the Ordnance Survey First, 1872-82, and Second Edition, 1896-98, maps (see 3 and 4), but has disappeared by the Third Edition, 1909-12, (see 5). Now under woodland.
