Summary

A farmhouse and associated range of farm buildings dating from around 1830-70. The farm buildings included a watermill which may have been used for threshing. The farm buildings have been converted to housing.

Full Description

This map depicts a T shaped range of buildings to the immediate north-west of the principal house and gardens (CHER 950/1).

This map depicts the T shaped range of buildings shaded grey (farm buildings) and a small building to the immediate south-west shaded pink (farmhouse).

Farmhouse, circa 1830. Flemish bond brown brick with pale headers; left gable-end rendered; graded grey slate roof. Two storeys; three windows; double pile. Sandstone plinth and rusticated quoins. Double half-glazed doors, six panes (margin panes at top and outer edge) with fielded panels below, in Roman Doric doorcase with entablature. Twenty-pane casements (with margin panes) under wedge lintels. A brick chimney on each gable end in front of ridge. Attached L-shaped farm building of sandstone at rear returning to right with driftway in corner.

Depicts an L shaped range connecting the farmhouse and the mill. The mill is labelled a T. mill. Further buildings are located to the immediate north of the mill building and to the immediate south of the east-west aligned part of the range.

Some buildings to the north of the mill have been demolished. The farm buildings have been converted to housing.
