Desk-based assessment undertaken in 2017 in advance of development of land to the west of Stanney Lane highlighted the existance of a group of three buildings, a former farmstead, from historic cartographic sources. The buildings, centred at SJ 41120 74306, are present on a map of Little Stanney dating to 1736 and on the Tithe Map of 1848.

On the Ordnance Survey First Edition map (see source 3), four ranges of buildings are depicted, positioned on three sides of a rectangular courtyard; the eastern and northern range appear to incorporate the original eighteenth century buildings, whereas the western range has been added. The name Wood Farm appears on the OS Second Edition map (source 4). Air photographic evidence shows that the farm was demolished sometime between 2006 and 2010 (sources 5-6)
