Monument record 7995 - Site of Primitive Methodist Chapel

Summary

The 1838 tithe map for the township of Tattenhall depicts a building at this location which is described on the award as a chapel. Later nineteenth century maps record the chapel belonging to the Society of Primitive Methodists, a branch of the Methodist church founded in 1810. This building was demolished sometime between the late 1940s and 1972. The early date of the chapel (which predates the Burial Acts of the 1850s) may indicate the presence of human burials.
