‘The Cheshire Lines Committee warehouse at Warrington (1897) made full use of the advertising possibilities offered on its façade to promote the three companies that went to make up the CLC: the GCR, the GNR and the MR. The building, which is now converted to apartments, is an example of an ostensibly utilitarian structure, built relatively late, which still made extensive use of ornament. The proportions were also carefully handled, with effective repetition of elements along the lengthy symmetrical façade and the breaking of the advertisement panels by openings for hoists (now converted to windows).’
