Description
The Winwick Street conservation area as designated is located on the northern edge of Warrington town centre and encompasses the east side of Winwick Street between Central Station and Haydock Street. It includes those properties fronting onto Winwick Street together with part of Central Station, its approaches and the former railway goods yard and warehouse behind.
It was designated to facilitate compliance with the terms and conditions of the Heritage Economic Regeneration Scheme (HERS), in respect of the conversion and regeneration of the Cheshire Lines warehouse and the surrounding former goods yard area for mixed use scheme, including a potential residential community resource centre and commercial space.
