Summary

A small wharf adjacent to the Macclesfield Canal for the nearby Hall o' Lee Colliery. The colliery and the wharf were connected by a tramway.

Full Description

Neither the wharf or the tramway (CHER 7869/2/1) are depicted or recorded on the 1838 map and award for Astbury township.

This map depicts a rectangular mooring on the eastern side of the canal.

The mooring depicted on the 1873-1888 map (see 2) appears dry for two thirds of its length. To the immediate south-west and two rectangular structures labelled as slips. To the south of these is a weighing machine. The tramway from the colliery runs directly to the southern slip. The area is named Scholar Green Wharf.

This map of 1899 depicts the area as rough ground and the only surving structure is the weighing machine.
