Full Description
Archaeological investigations at Volunteer Street in 2013 identified evidence of post medieval activity. The evdience comprises a series of layers containing post medieval finds.
The evidence from trenches 3 & 4 consisted of a series of cultivation layers containing frequent burrowing and root action suggestive of garden planting. Several possible pits were also located in both trenches containing limited quantities of post medieval rubbish.
The evidence from trenches 1 & 2 consisted of a series of cultivation soils probably associated with the parkland recorded here in the 18th century.
