Full Description
<1> Archaeological Research Services Ltd, 2013, 4-6 Volunteer Street, Chester Report on an Archaeological Evaluation, R3540 (Client Report). SCH7252.
Archaeological investigations at Volunteer Street in 2013 identified possible evidence of medieval activity tentatively interpreted as backyard activity associated with plots fronting onto Park Street.
The evidence from trench 2 comprised a single disturbed deposit [context 217] containing mixed Roman to post medieval finds.
The deposit was tentatively interpreted by the archaeological contractor as a possible medieval cultivation soil to the rear of burgage type plots due to a 'slight curve' seen in the west facing section of the trench.
