Archaeological investigations to the south of Pepper Street in 2013 recorded evidence of post medieval activity below the present structure. The evidence comprised a substantial brick built cellar.
The cellar was encountered in trench 6 below the extent of the 19th century chapel and contained substantial quantities of infilled material. The cellar itself appeared to be late 18th century in date and it is possible that it was infilled during the construction of the chapel.
