Archaeological investigations at the Odeon Cinema in 2013 identifed the possible remains of a Roman structure on the east side of the Roman alignment of Northgate Street. The projected plan of the fortress as drawn by Mason is limited in this area with no certain archaeological evidence.
The evidence from the Odeon comes from test pit 28 where the lowest archaeological horizon consisted of a sandstone structure[context 2822] interpreted as a rubble core to a Roman wall foundation. Finds from layer [2811] overlying the structure suggests a date of the late 2nd century.
