Full Description
Shortly after the digging of a service trench near (just north of) the porch of St John's church, local archaeologists were able to observe that a relatively large amount of disarticulated human bone, possibly from an extensive charnel pit had been excavated and could be seen in the spoil (1). The remains appeared to be at a shallow level below the existing pavement and road surface. The bones were re-buried in the trench (1). The incident is unpublished.
