Full Description
During 2012 excavations within the Chester Cathedral precinct, specifically Trench 1 in the car park area, a demolition layer was recorded that contained rubble and finds from eighteenth to nineteenth century properties that were once in this area (1). These properties were demolished during the twentieth century. The presence of medicine, poison and cosmetic bottles among the finds supported historic research that indicated the property fronting onto Northgate St. was used as a chemist from at least the mid-nineteenth century (1).
