Description

Archaeological monitoring of excavations for new rising bollards and associated services for Chester Cathedral. The field work comprised the monitoring of hand excavation of two foundation pits, two service trenches and a single foundation pit on Northgate Street and Abbey Square. The results of the watching brief were limited due to the small scale nature of the work, however evidence of the 14th century Abbey gatehouse was encountered along with more recent 19th-20th century evidence.
