Full Description

A grass-covered, oval earthen mound, 9m by 12m and standing up to 0.8m high. It occupies relatively level ground within the fork of two estate tracks. Growing on top of the mound are two oak trees, with an estimated age of 250 – 300 years. The mound is surrounded by improved pasture and part of the edge of the mound has been clipped by the plough, exposing its makeup. This mound was either constructed as an ornamental feature within the park, or as a prehistoric burial mound. If it is a burial mound it will be surrounded by a ditch about 3m wide, which will survive as a buried feature.
