Archaeological investigations at Tower Wharf, Chester in 2005 encountered a single worked flint in trench 6 of the excavations close to the path of the canal. The flake was tertiary and probably soft hammer struck - with a bulb that was damaged and not very clear. Although the artefact was too small to confidently identify, its method of creation suggests an early Neolithic date.
