Monument record 7123 - Thursbitch Deserted Farmstead in Rainow

The first documentary reference to 'Thurresbacheker' dates from 1384 and may mean brushwood or marshy place at the demon's valley.

The 1850 tithe map for Rainow depicts an L shaped building with two further small buildings to the north. There is a further to the west on the opposite side of the brook. The award describes this plot as a homestead and croft.

This map depicts a larger L shaped building with three smaller buildings to the immediate north and a well. A further small building lies to the west on the opposite side of the brook. The farmstead is labelled Thursbitch. Tracks lead to the north, north-west and south-west.

Most of the buildings appear to have lost their roofs.
