Summary

Roman road - Chester to Wirral. The large number of cobbles present in the upcast from a Post Office service trench suggest that it had cut through the Roman road. Agger - The roman name for embankment built to allow drainage of the road surface. Could be simple earth structures or be many different layers of stone. Material for the agger was usually dug for a ditch on either side of the road.

Roman road - Chester to Wirral. The large number of cobbles present in the upcast from a Post Office service trench suggest that it had cut through the Roman road (1).
