Full Description
Archaeological investigations in the car park at Chester Railway Station recorded traces of a buried ploughsoil predating the construction of the station in the 19th century in all three trenches.(1)
The depth below present gground level varied from 2.13m in trench 1, 1.56m in trench 2 and 2.1m in trench 3. The soil contained fragments of roundwood twigs and a slight organic odour (1)
