Summary

Newton Hall was built in the late 17th century as a small country house. It is built of brick with sandstone dressing with a hipped Welsh slate roof. It is two storeys high with a double pile plan. The Hall was listed Grade II* in 1950. There are a number of original features in the present property including several original windows on the front and side elevations and the original dog leg staircase in the interior. In the early 18th century a brick built service wing was added to the east end of the rear wall. Originally of two and a half storeys, it was raised to four storeys in the late 18th to 19th century. In the 19th century several original windows in the front elevation were replaced and a second rear wing was built against the west end of the rear wall.
