Full Description
Archaeological investigations at the site of the former Flookersbrook iron foundry encountered traces of post medieval agricultural soils in the western part of the site.
A watching brief carried out during the excavation of two lift pits revealed a similar buried soil layer interpreted as a possible plough soil containing post medieval ceramics of a late 17th to early 18th century date. Traces of an earlier soil layer was also encountered in the northern most lift pit.
