Summary

Archaeological investigations at the site of the former Flookersbrook iron foundry encountered traces of post medieval agricultural soils in the western part of the site. A watching brief carried out during the excavation of two lift pits revealed a similar buried soil layer interpreted as a possible plough soil containing post medieval ceramics of a late 17th to early 18th century date. Traces of an earlier soil layer was also encountered in the northern most lift pit.

Archaeological investigations at the site of the former Flookersbrook iron foundry encountered traces of post medieval agricultural soils in the western part of the site.

A watching brief carried out during the excavation of two lift pits revealed a similar buried soil layer interpreted as a possible plough soil containing post medieval ceramics of a late 17th to early 18th century date. Traces of an earlier soil layer was also encountered in the northern most lift pit.
