Full Description
A metal signet ring dated to the 17th to 18th century was discovered from the site of the Chester Gas Company Works on the Roodee in 1944. The ring had a patina associated with pewter and an intaglio design of two hearts in opposing directions in a Bezel shaped shield. There was a cross in the centre of the ring. A claviform handle similar in design to a pipette was attached to the ring itself on the opposite side to the signet, its purpose is uncertain, however. (1)
