Full Description
Two fragments of a building inscription of a possible early second century date were reported to have been found in a pile of rubbish that had been pilled against the fortress walk in the northwest corner of the paddock. It is thought that this rubbish came from the work being undertaken at the hotel. These inscriptions have been used as evidence for a Trajanic rebuilding of the stone of defences, but there is little support for this theory (1).
