Full Description
Following the discovery of evidence of the amphitheatre between 1928 and 1929 (ECH4974), permission was obtained for further investigation in 1930 and 1931, producing a relatively large assemblage of apparently unstratified medieval material (1). Selective detail was provided on the nature of the pottery assemblage, suggesting that at least some of the assemblage dates to the fourteenth or fifteenth centuries, and the glazed, impressed tiles that were said to be similar to examples found at the Grey Friars' site. However, the contexts in which they were found was reported only as 'disturbed' (1).
