Full Description
An archaeological watching brief undertaken during ground disturbance in relation to the construction of an electricity sub-station at the north-east edge of Grosvenor Park in 2002 revealed an sandstone drain, thought to be pre-Victorian in date. The drain was lined with vertically placed sandstone slabs, cut into clay, with capping stones. Although there was no dating evidence recovered relating to the drain, the feature was cut by two brick walls (CHER 11053) that seemed to be associated with a layer of Victorian debris (1).
