Monument record 11039 - Thirteenth Century Occupation Layer, Western Seating Bank Amphitheatre

An occupation layer containing a sherd of thirteenth century cooking pot rim was identified during the excavation of the Roman Amphitheatre between 1965 and 1969. In the western part of the seating bank was a cellar of medieval date (CHER 11038), and below its sandstone flooring was this deposit. It does not appear to have been extensively explored by the excavators of this particular project (2).
