Full Description
The early phase of the Union Dee Branch of the canal ran from the area of Tilston’s Yard to the Chester Canal Company at the Northgate Locks between the mid 1770s and 1800. The original line of the canal consisted of a single straight stretch from the River Dee and is shown only on Hunter's map of 1789. It was replaced by the later Union Dee Branch in 1802. (1)
