Full Description
The only pre-20th Century building to survive is a two storey range immediately to the north east of the modern farmhouse. The building is constructed of brick in Flemish bond with stone quoins to the lower courses of the southern end. The roof is covered in asbestos concrete sheeting and there are stone kneelers on the northern gable – it appears that there were also kneelers on the southern gable, subsequently removed during roof repair. The elevations are pierced by a number of openings for doors and windows, some probably original, some more recent and some that have been modified or blocked. This building includes an original single bay cart shed, subsequently widened with a probably re-used timber beam serving as the lintel. Further evidence for the re-use of timber beams was observed in the ground floor ceiling of the northern end of the barn . The origin of the beams is not apparent, although it is possible that they came from former outbuildings or the original Frog Hall, demolished circa 1960 (1).
The building is depicted on the 1838 tithe map (2).
