Full Description
Archaeological investigations at Russell Street in 2002 identified features relating to 18th century settlement including structural remains of several workers houses fronting onto Russell Street, rubbish pits and a probable well feature.
The evidence consisted of several brick built walls and floors in trench 2, at least one of which was probably a boundary wall, and a brick floor in trench 4 with a brick wall and stone foundation underlying it. A chimney breast of an 18th century date was also recorded to the south in trench 5. (1)
