Full Description
Archaeological investigations at George Street in 2002 identified a layer containing particularly large quantities of 17th century material.
The evidence consisted of a dumped soil accumulation in area A of the excavations containing domestic waste including pottery and clay pipe of a mid to late 17th century date. The soil accumulation was encountered across the site at depth of approximately 1m below present ground level. (1)
