Monument record 10910 - Cattle Market, Gorse Stacks

Historic maps from the late 19th to early 20th century record a cattle market at Gorse Stacks. The large open space held numerous stalls and pens. (1-5)

Recent archaeological investigation at the site in 2006 identified a rough surface in several trenches comprising a mix of concrete, brick and pottery that was interpreted as a probable floor surface of the cattle pens. (6)
