The railway ran north from the Saltney Dee Junction for a distance of 640m before branching off the main trunk into three sidings. The first ran directly north to the Saltney Stage wharf for a distance of 160m before ending perpendicular to the river (CHER 10866/2/5), the second ran east parallel with the river for a distance of 400m to the River Dee Wharf (CHER 10866/2/6) with a third, smaller siding just 70m in length leading to another quay (CHER 10866/2/7).
