Full Description
No 2-10 City Road consists of a bank, built 1892 by T.M. Lockwood for the Liverpool Union Bank and four adjacent shops with accommodation above also by T.M. Lockwood. The bank is of yellow sandstone ashlar with an orange clay tile roof in the late 16th century Baroque manner. It is three storeys with a cellar and an attic. The roof is hipped to a canted corner which has a pair of tourelles with cupola roofs of copper.
The shops are of buff sandstone with timber framing and plaster panels. The roof is red brown clay tile with gable ends over each property and a main ridge parallel with the street. They are three storeys high with ashlar piers at each end and between shop fronts. (1)
