Summary

The Town Crier was originally built as the Albion Hotel in 1865, later converted to a public house. It is two storeys of rendered brick with an almost flat roof. ground floor has round-arched openings separated by Doric pilasters. The former hotel, now pub, entrance has double 2-panel doors in Ionic case with green man and beasts in spandrels. The area before the basement has brick retaining wall with spearhead railings on stone cap. The Albion Hotel was built as a humbler subsidiary to the Queen Hotel, in the same ownership.
