Summary

This monument refers to a terrace of listed buildings on the north side of Stanley Place (the south side is represented by CHER 10414), all constructed at the same time at the end of the eighteenth century. Maclean House (DCH7042), at 14 Stanley Place, is a Grade II listed property constructed as a town house c 1780. After 1800 it became a hotel and is now used as a school building. 12 Stanley Place (DCH7040) remains a townhouse. The property representing 4 – 8 Stanley Place (DCH7035) was also constructed as a townhouse, but most recently (1960s) has become part school buildings, part offices and part private residences. 2 Stanley Place has a similar history, and is now used as offices. 2 – 3 Stanley St. (DCH7044) is the only Grade II* listed property on this terrace, but was constructed at the same time as a townhouse and is now used as office space.
