Town house, now hotel, at north-west corner of Stanley Place, with entrance front to City Walls Road. c1780. Flemish bond brown brick with grey slate roof. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys. Stooled painted stone sills, slightly cambered painted gauged brick heads and painted stone cornice to both fronts. The face to Stanley Place has 2 replaced recessed sashes per storey, of 2 panes to first and second storeys and 6 panes to third storey. The face to City Walls Road has 2 repaired stone steps to replaced double doors with 3-pane batwing sidelights in a pedimented doorcase with fluted pilasters; the full-height pedimented entrance bay projects, matching that of No.13 south of Stanley Place. The first storey has a replaced recessed sash of 2 panes to each side of entrance and three 12-pane sashes further north; the second storey has a 12-pane sash above the door, a replaced 2-pane sash to each side and three 12-pane sashes further north; six 6-pane sashes to third storey; the rear gable-end has a flush 12-pane sash to the second storey and one of 6-panes to the third storey; original rainwater head and upper pipe and brackets; a flat-roofed single storey north wing has 2 recessed 12-pane sash and cast-iron key-pattern cresting on a plain stone coping. INTERIOR: most features are removed or covered; open-well stair of 6 flights has open string with shaped brackets, diminishing newels, 2 stick balusters per step and swept handrail terminating in a wreath.
