Full Description
Evidence of medieval activity was recorded during archaeological investigations to the rear of Duke Street in 2002. The evidence consisted of a sub rectangular pit feature [Context 47] cut with vertical sides and a flat base containing quantities of mortar fragments and mussel shell as well as quantities of disturbed pottery from the Roman to medieval periods. The pit cut the earlier Roman features (CHER 8116).
A possible medieval cultivation soil was also identified containing a single sherd of Ewloe type ware. (1)
