Full Description
Rapid archaeological investigations at 29 Foregate Street in 1995 identified a series of medieval and post medieval deposits, however time and health and safety constraints limited the extent to which these features could be identified.
Immediately below the floor surface of the present structure several wall foundations were recorded that probably relate to the former Golden Lion Coaching Inn recorded on the site in the 19th century. The evidence consisted of a construction layer and several wall foundations forming the back of the former inn. (1)
