Full Description
Archaeological investigations on the site of the former Bowling Green in 1995 identified a series of four post holes [contexts 18, 22, 23 & 31] underlying a 13th-14th century cultivation soil in trench 1 of the excavation. Although no dating evidence was recovered from these features, it post dated the Roman stone structures and predated the later cultivation soils. (1)
