Summary

Archaeological investigations on the site of the former Bowling Green in 1995 identified a series of four post holes underlying a 13th-14th century cultivation soil. Although no dating evidence was recovered from these features, it post dated the Roman stone structures and predated the later cultivation soils.

Archaeological investigations on the site of the former Bowling Green in 1995 identified a series of four post holes [contexts 18, 22, 23 & 31] underlying a 13th-14th century cultivation soil in trench 1 of the excavation. Although no dating evidence was recovered from these features, it post dated the Roman stone structures and predated the later cultivation soils. (1)
