Full Description
Archaeological investigations in Commonhall Street in 1991 identified several post medieval pits. The pits contained large quantities of finds dated to the 17th-18th century as well as organic material.
The evidence comprised a pit probably used for cess material in trial hole 1 and contained material of a mid 17th to early 18th century date. In addition, two small pits were identified in trial hole adjacent to the possible cellar structure (CHER 10404) containing pottery dating to the start of the 18th century. Finally a large pit was recorded in trial hole 4 [F6] containing pottery of a mid 17th century date. (1)
