Summary

Two probable post medieval pits were recorded during investigations at Bridge Street east on the site of the Roman fortress baths in 1863. Located in the westernmost of the south range of rooms were two deep rubbish pits containing a large number of broken 16th century and 17th century clay tobacco pipes.
