Full Description
Archaeological investigations carried out on Commonhall Street in 1993 identified medieval structural activity relating to properties on Bridge Street as well as Pierpoint Lane, believed to have come into use some time in the 13th century.
Activity relating to the Bridge Street frontage consisted of the rear wall of a cellar immediately overlying the Roman structural evidence. Quantities of finely carved fragments of masonry from windows and doors were recorded as reused material in the walls of later buildings in the area. (1)
