Full Description
<1> Cambrian Archaeological Projects Ltd, 2002, St Olave's Street, Chester: Archaeological Watching Brief, R2984 (Client Report). SCH5306.
Medieval activity recorded during archaeological investigations in St Olave Street indicates at least one structure and numerous rubbish and cess pits.
The evidence consists of a number of cess pits to the rear of Site 1 on the northern side of the street along with a possibly contemporary structure. A possible road surface was also identified in the area. The pits provided a good assemblage of pottery datable to the 13th-14th century. The structure is likely to have been timber framed with no evidence of cellaring.
